Current Obsessions

I've realized I go through phases of liking things.  Sometimes, I just can't get enough of something.  Here are my current obsessions:
  • Lemon Lime Club Soda
  • Honey Nut Cheerios
  • Ancient Aliens from the History Channel (though it is possible I just really like Giorgio Tsoukalos' voice, not actually what he's saying)
  • IKEA (don't laugh--it's the new meth)
  • Craftgawker.com (I've been so inspired!)
  • Peanut M&M's (I was using them as a meal supplement for a few days--they do have some protein after all.  Now I have a few bags sitting on the counter, but I'm afraid to open them in case I won't be able to eat just a few and end up eating the whole bag. It is a comfort having them around, however.)
  • Lemonade and iced tea (I refuse to call it an Arnold Palmer because I think it sounds stupid. By the way, I tried watermelon iced tea last night and I do NOT recommend it.)
  • Latch hooking my rug (no it is not a fuzzy picture of Jesus.  I made my own design and it is going to be gorgeous!)
Next week, all the fall shows start up again and I'm sure I'll get sucked into marathon sessions of watching those soon.  But for now, my life is sustained on these few things.

Is this totally weird? Or do other people do this too?

A funny thing happened....

Obviously, things have changed.

I haven't posted in a while because several things happened in quick succession.  Work picked up, requiring more of my time;  and I've started to do a lot of new things.  Sure, this whole thing started with chocolate and, believe me, that is all very exciting, but it has since permeated into so many other facets of my life.

I bleached my hair.  I have really dark hair that I always felt would be too much of a hassle to bleach and dye and then maintain.  And suddenly, I found a new way to do it--and I did it myself.  I bleached my own hair!  It's, like, blonde!  I've never been "blonde" before!

I'm trying to start a business so I'm learning a whole new way to think about photography.  I'm reading all this technical jargon that I don't fully understand, but I'm still doing it!

I started (and took a long pause from) this blog!  It's surprisingly difficult to write one's thoughts and then be willing to publish them.  But this is all so new to me and I really wanted to share it with...someone!  I'm usually such a quiet person and very private, but I want to discuss things suddenly!  I have new art work to do, things are piling up!

I got sucked into an alternative history series and I can't seem to get enough of  it! (They got me hooked when they started discussing alternative interpretations of classical art--no one had ever mentioned it to me before!) I'm not sure it's true, but it's opened my eyes to how much of this world is still unknown. We speculate a lot! Especially in science and history, but even in culture and finance--it's a lot of guess work.

And my sleep schedule has had a drastic shift.  I'm suddenly wide awake and full of energy at eight and nine o'clock at night.  I can't seem to fall asleep before one am.  So perhaps this is all a manifestation of some sort of neurological impairment...

I assumed that by now, at 30, I would have a more solid grasp of what exists in the world, what is possible and how things work.  And instead of feeling firmly planted in my life, I suddenly feel like I've grown wings.
